[Meta] Where I’ve Been

Hello. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything on here, so I figured it’s time for an update.

First off, I’m just gonna go ahead and lay out the bad news: Pox is being shelved until I know what to do with it. Pox was never meant to be a large game; you were supposed to follow a linear story until you picked up a job, earned money by working shifts, and then paid for a few furniture items and paid your rent and utilities, and if you lasted three months in-game and had a positive happiness meter, you won the game for having made it out on your own in a new city. That, however, didn’t turn out to be the case. Instead I began to spin more and more ideas of what I could throw into my very first game, and it became overwhelming. Even what’s in Pox now took me so long to figure out and piece together. So yeah, it’s best if I put Pox in a box (hah) and reevaluate where I want that project to go. I’d like to apologize to anyone who started following me hoping for more updates on the game, but there are absolutely tons of better quality indie games out there for you to sample!

As for Atlas, it’s still in the works. Total disclosure, I haven’t touched it in like a month, but today I finally sat myself down and started cracking on the code for the character creation. It’s about a third of the way done so far. Once it’s in, I’m not really going to bother sprucing it up until there’s a lot more story content (which, surprise, I actually have some already written!). The next update will drop you into the main story world and will present to you the first “h-scene”; it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s okay. Content of all flavors is coming after. I actually have quite a bit detailed for the first two chapters of the game, so as long as I can crunch on the content writing, sizable Atlas updates should be coming about once a month.

If you’re curious as to where I’ve been, I started doing 3D design work in Blender and Unity. Most of it has been learning the basics in order to create content for VRChat, but there’s some other applications I’d like to use that knowledge for as well. Recently I’ve been working on animating and creating blend shapes by hand; it’s a lot of work but I’m having a lot of fun doing it.

Anywho, that’s all I’ve got for now.
